yard work
i've been hauling bodies all day
uncountable
almost weightless in their singularity
but when gathered together
clumsy and burdensome to shift
it's filthy work too
the dust of decay clings to my clothes
invades my nostrils
makes me sneeze with such violence
i fear a bloody nose
if it were left to me
i'd leave these summer soldiers lying
where they fell
but their removal is the done thing
on the battlefields of suburbia
so i labor on
shifting the corpses of nature
into black plastic body bags
i am autumn's minion
armed with a rake and a red meat wagon

I love the descriptions behind your work. This leaning red wheelbarrow has a life of its own. F/L

Regina, This is another wonderful image and the poetry is another ee cummings. I am in love with your poetic language and visual imagery that you create.

The subject makes me smile because my red wheelbarrow is in the same position, at the back of the property, waiting to be covered with snow. f/l
