how we love the old
assiduously we worship the old
artifacts
antiques
vintage whatnot
will always find a ready buyer
eager to collect
and then display with pride
as if their very purchase added lustre
to the character of the possessor
yes
old things are revered
old people?
that's another story
those past what is regarded as useful
too often are consigned
to ice floes set adrift in frigid seas
and then forgotten
there are more golden calves
than golden hearts
worshiped in this world

Beautiful heirloom teapot image, RC! Love your poem that matches, too! f/l I really liked the images in the "Bits and Pieces" Gallery!

I love this! What a vintage feel to your work. You have paid tribute to the teapot, by oh so carefully placing it on the lace doily and in your gentle light. I love the gleam on the handles and spout. Very, very nice! Headed to the discussions in Appreciating Works From All Mediums.

I'm so glad to hear this brought back happy memories for you, Doug, thank you for sharing.

A thought provoking image Gina, I am reminded of my grandmother and her quiet appreciation for pretty things. She had a simple way of honoring her guests with their ocasional use.
