I have lain in the arms of men
knowing they have clothed my naked flesh
in the skin of another woman.
I have been a true, trustworthy friend,
only to be vilified and slandered;
discarded to the wolves of winter's night.
I bore a beautiful child, gladly giving up
everything I had to be his mother,
only to have death descend and steal him.
No longer do I hope for loyalty or love;
I have pledged myself to Neptune,
whose saline rhythm, like my tears, never fails me.
