Greenery highlights the combination of rusticity and modernism on this street corner in Ventmiglia in the province of Palermo, Sicily, the home of maternal family ancestors. Note the woman peeking out from her doorway.
The town's official name is "Ventimiglia di Sicilia" to differentate it from the city of Ventimiglia in the Ligurian region. Sicilians call it Calamigna.
Thanks to my cousin Tulligreta for the photograph from which this is painted.
